Coordinator of Homeless Programs; Cheryl began her employment with the Disaster Response Network after the flood of ‘97. She moved to the Homeless Intervention Programs in 2000 and became the Coordinator in 2001. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Moorhead State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from UND. She served her master’s internship at the UMC Counseling Center. East Grand Forks Technical College (as a counselor and founder of the CARE Center) and Hospice of the Red River Valley (as a bereavement counselor) were two previous employers. She serves clients in Kittson and Mahnomen Counties, is HIP back-up in Polk County and is responsible for the administration of the 4 -5 grants for the Homeless Intervention Programs plus supervision of the program staff. |

Denise Gudvangen is the Adult Community Services Coordinator in charge of the Community Support Services Unit at Northwestern Mental Health Center and a licensed psychologist. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Moorhead State University and her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She started working at the Northwestern Mental Health Center in 1993 as a Professional Home Based Therapist in the Children and Family Services Division. In 1998 she became licensed as a Psychologist and began doing clinical supervision in both children and adult divisions. In 2001, she became a clinical supervisor in the Adult Services Program full time. In 2004 she became the Adult Services Coordinator with the Adult Services Program. |

Intensive Community Rehabilitative MH Specialist; Denise completed her master’s degree in social work from the University of North Dakota in August, 2007. She did her master’s field placement with Altru Hospice and Grief Center. Her bachelor’s degree is in social work from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN. She has been a social worker in Crookston for 27 ½ years. She has worked with adult consumers with mental illness for 17 years, both as a Polk County Case Manager and in residential services at Northwestern Apartments. Denise became employed at NWMHC as a Community Mental Health Specialist/Corrections Coordination Facilitator in Sept. 2007. She is primarily based in Polk County. |

Sheril earned her BS in Criminal Justice and BA in Psychology at the University of North Dakota. She works as a Community Housing Specialist in Polk and Marshall Counties working with homeless individuals who have either chemical or mental health issues. |

Technical Supervisor/Community Mental Health Specialist; Carrie comes to us after completing her Masters degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota in May 2003. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota in December 2000. Her experience working with adult consumers with mental illnesses spans back almost 15 years. She has worked in residential, hospital, and university settings. Carrie serves Polk County clients both individually and in group work. Besides her duties as a community mental health professional, Carrie leads the flex funds committee, manages food bank orders and sits on the Vulnerable Adult Committee. Lastly, Carrie serves as a Technical Supervisor within Adult Services.food bank orders. |

Technical Supervisor/Community Mental Health Specialist; Sheri comes to us after working as the Kairos House Group Home Coordinator through Lutheran Social Services for several years. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado. In addition to her general job responsibilities as a Licensed Mental Health Professional, she serves as the Youth Transition Coordination Facilitator. This position is geared towards helping young clients establish meaningful adult roles and involves special collaboration with programs that would be beneficial to clients in this age range (e.g., schools, universities, employers). Her position in Adult Services coordinates well with the System of Care grant in Children’s Services which also addresses services for transition age youth. Sheri also serves as a Technical Supervisor within the Adult Services Program. Lastly, she provides supervision to Adult Services staff who cover Mahnomen County. |

Community Mental Health Specialist; Suzanne came to us after completing her master’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 2006. Her bachelor’s degree is in psychology is from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN. She has experience with cognitive-behavioral treatment strategies which makes her an ideal candidate for providing group-based treatment within the Adult Services Program and she has taken a leadership role in developing some new group offerings for our clients. She is based in Polk County. |

Intensive Community Rehabilitation Services (ICRS) Team Leader; Gail has a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Moorhead State University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor. Gail began her career at Northwestern Mental Health Center working at Northwestern Apartments which provides residential supports for people with serious and persistent mental illness. She joined the Community Support Services (CSS) in 1998 where she started by providing case management and skills building to clients with a serious & persistent mental illness. In later years she was involved in managing referrals, organizing Quality Assurance, staff training, and providing direct service to clients. Currently, she provides leadership and direct service to clients through the Intensive Community Rehabilitation Services which is a pilot program for the Minnesota. |
